The Writers K is a team of two writers: Kathryn Place and Katy Ellis. We discovered our mutual love of words in the Graduate English Program at Western Washington University, where we collaborated on a number of writing projects. Our mission to produce good, solid writing led us to form The Writers K. We are unique in that we combine the power of multiple editors with the efficiency of a lead project writer. Because we work well both independently and cooperatively, we offer a breadth of specialties and can fulfill your larger project or meet your tight deadline.
Katy Ellis has a B.A. from the University of Victoria’s Writing Program in British Columbia, Canada, and a Masters in English from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. She’s a recent graduate of Seattle’s Artists Trust EDGE Program, a professional development program for creative writers, and is an intern with Seattle Arts & Lectures WITS (Writers in the Schools) Program. She has expanded her freelance work to include grant writing assistance, as well as creative writing critiques. In addition to freelance work, Katy has accumulated over ten years of experience writing, editing and conceptualizing in-house and public documents for Public Health—Seattle & King County. She lives with her family in West Seattle, a stone throw from the beach.
